Classification

The Natural Resource Education Coordinator at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center is hired and paid directly by Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, Inc., a private, non-profit 501c3 corporation.

Job Responsibilities

The Natural Resource Education (NRE) Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and growth to Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center’s Natural Resource Education Program, as well as other related programs. Programs that are delivered must be kept within the 4-H Center’s philosophy and goals related to wise use, management, stewardship, and conservation of our natural resources. The following is a general description of the job responsibilities:

 

·         60%

Plan, promote, schedule, and instruct NRE Programs, for both day and overnight school groups, as well as other potential user groups.

·         15%

Care for all nature room and program animals including, but not limited to, feeding, cleaning cages, taking to the vet, etc.

·         10%

Assist with summer 4-H Camp programs, specifically with teaching nature class or training the Summer Camp Nature Instructor, and helping with other aspects of summer camp as needed.

·         10%

Assist with program development and implementation outside of NRE Programs.

·         5%

Promote, recruit, train, and supervise volunteer instructors and interns.

In addition, you will be required to provide supervision of weekend programs and activities on a rotating basis with other professional staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in outdoor recreation, forestry/wildlife, natural resources, experiential education, or other related field
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs preferred
  • Experience working with youth and adults preferred
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and supervising a volunteer base preferred

Salary

$25,000 - $27,000 annual salary paid every other week

Benefits

  • Annual leave accumulated at a rate of 8 hours per month
  • Sick leave accumulated at a rate of 10 hours per month. Sick leave may be used for personal sickness, injury, or family member emergencies according to the 4-H Center policy. Sick leave has no monetary value, but can be cashed in upon departure at a rate of $10.00 per day for up to 10 days.
  • All state holidays are given to employees
  • Optional employee participation in 403 (B) retirement plan
  • Optional employee participation in group health insurance for individual or family. The 4-H Center will pay $300.00 per month of the total billing for individual or family. The employee is responsible for the remaining amount

Hours

Office hours are 8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. Employees are expected to keep regular office hours and schedule alternate work schedules with the Center Director. Professional 4-H Center employees sometimes work more than a 40-hour workweek. Again, the employee will alternate on-duty weekends with other professional staff. Compensatory leave is offered.

Supervision

The NRE Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Program Director. The Program Director will conduct an initial three month performance evaluation and annual evaluations after that.
